Winter Tour Postponed

Our conductor, Mr. Edmonds, has recently undergone a serious surgery to his lower-back.  Unfortunately, this means that he will have not recovered by the time of our scheduled tour dates.  With much regret, we must cancel our winter tour this year, and postpone the concerts in the midwest until the Winter of 2011.  Our sincerest apologies to the churches and families who most graciously offered to host our choir.  We appreciate your continued prayers and support of our group and our conductor as he recovers.  Thanks.

An Introduction

Greetings, and welcome to the (un)official blog of the Moody Chorale...

My name is Michael, and I am currently serving as President of the Chorale. It is a formidable title but a wonderful opportunity. In efforts of reaching a myriad of potential readers, I decided to take things to the world wide web with hopes of connecting with past and future members, friends, families, and supporters. And since I'm doubtful we would make much of a splash Facebook or Twitter (sometimes I can hardly stand the frenzy therein), what better way to update said readers than to blog. Yes, the Chorale has taken the plunge. I'm sure you will be excited to know that future posts will include updates about the group - our experiences, our travels, our hopes and dreams... And of course, as the year unfolds and adventures continue, I will post pictures, event information, and hopefully introduce/highlight some of our other members .

I am excited at the prospect of great potential (not the blog, silly; new paragraph = shifting gears). I am excited about what God is doing in our group, both individually and as a whole. Our theme for the year is based upon the last part Galatians 4:19, ..."until Christ is formed in you." We take our music and our performances seriously, to be sure, and we do our best to present a beautiful and well-represented sound. But if our purpose, our one and only goal, is to sing well, what are we doing any differently than any other choir? As we prepare our music to perform, we realize also that we are preparing ourselves as ministers of God's power and love, and we have the opportunity and privilege to carry out such a calling to people across the world. That is where our theme this year is such a blessing and a challenge. It gives the harmonies greater depth, the tones sharper resonance, and even words the ability to reach into the soul. It is the power of the Spirit to touch lives and change hearts.

Thank you for taking time to see our new blog.
Soli deo gloria.

"When I sing Lord,
Let it not be for this alone,
Lest fruitless I be when day is done.
Touch, Thou, my lips.
Thy beauty let me see,
and fill my heart with love eternally,
that men might come
to know and adore Thee.
Lord, this prayer I bring,
Lord, to Thee I sing."

(Excerpt from "Prayer Before Singing," by Dr. Don Hustad, as performed by the Moody Chorale).
